Neurodiversity refers to the diversity of human minds' (Judith Singer, 1990). Neurodivergence refers to an individual whose neurodevelopment takes place along a different trajectory.
Neurodevelopmental conditions such as Autism and ADHD (Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder) as well as Specific Learning Challenges and Developmental Co-ordination Disorder, are often manifest as behavioural problems at home or in the classroom. However, conventional medical curriculums don't devote much attention to the mental health of children & adolescents.
These conditions present at an early age and can have a significant impact on an individual throughout their lifetime. Early recognition, education and appropriate intervention may prevent psychopathology later in life and ensure affected individuals achieve their unique potential. Fortunately, there is a rapidly evolving awareness globally of the scale at which psychoeducation is required not only for medical professionals and educators, but also for parents and individuals themselves.
These courses are for everyone and anyone who may have to deal with children and adolescents who have or may have one of Neurodevelopmental conditions. The courses are particularly suitable for General Practitioners, Paediatricians, Psychiatrists, Psychologists, Physiotherapists and other healthcare providers.
