The key management goal for active spondylolytic bone stress injury are the resolution of symptoms, bone healing, return to pre-injury function and avoidance of recurrence. All four goals are interrelated and bone healing is key to the process. Conservative management can produce excellent critical and radiological outcomes, particularly in young athletic populations.
