In 'Modern Clinical Pilates' you will cover:
A brief overview of motor control of the upper and lower quadrants
A musculoskeletal assessment to establish a baseline measure of musculoskeletal status, in order to direct the treatment, and against which to compare at a later date.
How to measure motor control dysfunction using tools such as real-time Ultrasound imaging, Pressure biofeedback, dynamometry, and EMG.
How to improve dynamic joint stability with specific therapeutic exercise with the aid of the above tools as well as taping techniques, including examples of Dynamic Tape.
A brief history and principles of traditional Pilates.
Pilates exercises across all pieces of equipment (Mat, Reformer, Wunda Chair, Cadillac, Spine Corrector).
Case studies to consolidate theory and practice, during which you will demonstrate good clinical reasoning and an understanding of exercises most relevant to the pathology in question.
Planning a targeted Pilates class.
The course has a solid research base, but is largely a direct practical application that can be immediately implemented in your practice.
Pilates exercises covered include more advanced matwork, reformer, spine corrector and cadillac.
The exercises are taken to a more advanced level of strength and control.
Exercises are demonstrated and practiced across all pieces of equipment.
Case studies are discussed and relevant exercises demonstrated pertaining to your patient assessments.
Further cases studies will include therapeutic exercise treatment and progression of conditions including scoliosis, hip pain, pregnancy, SIJ dysfunction, ITB syndrome and the athlete’s shoulder.
Clinical Pilates group classes and how to structure them will be addressed.
